Whys2Wise grew from years spent working in residential childcare, supporting children, developing staff and seeing first-hand what makes the difference between knowing what to do and understanding why it matters.
As experienced practitioners, trainers and assessors, we know that good training isn't about sitting through slides or collecting certificates. It's about building confidence, asking better questions and making sound decisions when it matters most.
We believe learning should feel relevant to the realities of working in a children's home, and that understanding should be demonstrated, not simply assumed.
Whys2Wise is led by Dan Whitcombe, bringing over 12 years of experience across residential childcare, training and assessment. Together with Erica Whitcombe, whose experience helped shape the business, Whys2Wise draws on approximately 25 years of combined sector knowledge.

A Certificate Should Mean More Than Attendance.
Attending training doesn't automatically mean someone has understood it. And for those responsible for children's safety and wellbeing, that distinction matters.
At Whys2Wise, we don't simply deliver a session and issue certificates.
Every participant completes an individual Learning Validation & Reflection, which we personally assess against the course learning outcomes.
If someone hasn't quite demonstrated their understanding, we don't just mark them as unsuccessful. We offer a complimentary 30-minute 1:1 support session and another opportunity to complete their validation.
Attend → Participate → Reflect → Validate → Certify
